HOMELESS WOMEN & CHILDREN'S
AMENITIES BLOCK AND MARKET
We are pleased to announce that construction of a shelter and amenities block for a group of homeless women and children sleeping at a local market in North Sumatra, is underway. This amenity block will be built using local labourers, local materials and eco bricks.
Many of these women have either fled from violent relationships or have been widowed. All forced to leave without shelter or employment. Assisted by Komorebi volunteers, the women have been taught to repurpose plastic shopping bags by crocheting them into useful items such as purses, bags and mats to sell at the market. Education has been provided for setting up micro businesses for their items, enabling them to create a sustainable income. A school for their children has been established to further help break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Education, employment and purpose will provide hope for much a brighter future. Thank you to all who have donated, together we have made a difference!!!
